Easy Pieces (2008)

easypieces

This work was proposed in the form of a workshop for the context of the festival Dansand! at the beach of Ostende. During the four days of the festival the participants/ performers worked together exploring simple game structures, task and scores. The participants played out some of these ‘pieces’ at various locations at the beach, exploring the spatial relations given by the environment. We created a performance score working on distance and visibility using semaphore movements. The whole beach line between two wave breakers was the ‘stage’ and distributed 6 performers on some hundred meters along the horizon.

This is the first part of a collaborative project by Mette Edvardsen and Paul Gazzola.
